This review is a bit late, but had to be made. I won't say much about where we visited and all such details,a s you'll find those in the details of the various packages provided by Asean Angkor. I'll write more about my experience with Asean.
My wife and I visited Cambodia, mainly to see and experience Angkor Wat and the history of the Khmer Rouge genocide. Angkor Wat was on our bucket list and we had to tick it off.
I'll start with my experience with Raksa, the owner of the tour service. I have not experienced the professionalism from any tour operator till date, that I have experienced with Raksa. We wanted a custom private 4 day tour of Siem Reap and he was very accommodating in all our requirements, tastes and preferences. We were in touch mostly via mails and if we had any query, we always received a reply from Raksa within minutes, always. During our tour, Raksa regularly checked in on us. The tour guide provided by him was never late and arrived at our hotel to pick us up on time (before time to be precise). At the end of the tour we were presented with a beautiful pair of wrist bands, which were sewn by Raksa's wife.
I'll now say something about our tour guide - Raman. When we started our tour, I did not know that the experience would be so spiritual and meaningful. Being Hindus, we were interested in the historic aspect of Angkor Wat, the Hindu connection and the Kings who reigned in Siem Reap. Raman, with his descriptions of each small detail, would paint a picture of history, that would just take you to another place and era. Not only that, Raman is a very knowledgeable man about all the aspects about Cambodia. The pictures that Raman took of us are some of the most beautiful memories that we will have of Cambodia. I'll suggest you just give Raman your camera for the whole trip, he'll get all the best angles and backgrounds for you. At the end of the tour, we realized if we had a tour of Siem Reap without Raman, our trip would not have been even one-third the experience it has been for us.
After Siem Reap, Raksa also arranged for us to visit Phnom Penh via road in a SUV. The driver guided us through the main attractions there. The history of the Khmer Rouge genocide was a very heavy experience for us and all the other tourists around us.
At the end I would say, if you want to experience Siem Reap, you have to take the tours provided by Raksa, else you'll be missing out on something special. His tour plans are flexible and can be tailor made to your taste and your queries are always welcome by him. Ask for Raman to be your guide - he is the best.
Raksa - I wish you more success. Thanks for showing us Cambodia. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I am sorry for being so late with the review. Thank you for everything.
