Overview

Get picked up from your hotel and be brought to the departure point (Nearadey cafe). Then go by minibus to the boat station which is 30 km (18.5 mi) south-east of Siem Reap. Visit the pagoda or local market first, then go by motorized boat on a tour of the stilted buildings. See where the people have courageously adapted to some of the most unimaginable conditions. Enjoy the beautiful atmosphere in this one-of-a-kind village from the comfort of the boats. The guide explains the history, culture, and lifestyle of the villagers. The villages are surrounded by mangrove forest. Take an optional side-trip of the flooded forest on a rowing boat, available October to January. This is quite touristy. The motorboat stops at a small floating cafe. Visit Tonle sap to see the sun go down and have a swim (available on afternoon option only).

Floating village tour with a professional guide Touch Chanthy

The tour was very welled organized starting from the pick up and dropped off. The floating village is unique since people are living on the stilt houses higher from the water level and whereever they go they need to take the boats. At this time, some parts of the villages are dry where the dry road people can go through. Until the months of November or December onwards the whole community will be fully floaded. People make livings by fishing and providing boat tour services. In the village there is an English NGO school where kids learn English for free of charge and it is highly recommended for those who wish to volunteer teaching English there. The tour is worth it and highly recommend Touch Chanthy as a guide.
Immersive experience

We loved our day, walking through a traditional market, and then through the floating village and Pagoda. Such a vibrant and immersive experience. Our guide, Sok, was very knowledgeable and provided wonderful answers to our many questions. As a bonus, he shared his photos and an edited video at the end of our day.
