This tour is ideal for those who enjoy lengthy walks or trekking, but if you don't, don't worry; trekking is optional. Discover the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire by exploring Phnom Kulen National Park. Pay homage to the country's largest reclining Buddha on top of the mountain and see the river of 1000 lingas with its countless symbols engraved along the riverbed.
In the morning, our local guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you up the mountain in private transportation. Before winding up the steep route to the summit of the mountain, drive through broad open rice fields and dispersed communities with traditional dwellings. The ancient Khmer Empire was founded in Phnom Kulen, which is usually recognized as the birthplace of the Khmer Empire. Sandstones were carried to Angkor from this sacred mountain during the construction of the ancient temples. Khmer regard Kulen to be Cambodia's most sacred mountain.
