Going on a bike tour with Soksabike gotta be one of the best things I've done in Battambang! My lovely guide, Sophara, is a well spoken gentleman who is very knowledgeable about people's way of living and did an excellent job in introducing the local cultures.
We visited the rice paper village and ate the best homemade spring rolls ever, got to see a family that produces dried banana snacks, and another family which produces rice wine (or Cambodia whiskey as Sophara would put it). On the way to the fish market we rode past some lush green rice fields, and we got to try the delicious bamboo rice and stopped for some fruits before heading to the final destination Wat Samrong Knong to see the killing fields.
The best thing about Soksabike is that it supports eco tourism, and the local families directly benefit from the profits shared with them.
Truly highly recommend this tour if you're interested in knowing more about the local communities and how they live in Battambang. The bike tour suits all levels of bikers so don't worry if you're not an experienced cyclist!
Great concept, great people
Fantastic experience. I had the chance to be the only client (there are still few tourists in Cambodia), with my guide Sophara. A great guide, very well informed, good English speaker and a very nice person. The tour is very rich, lots of discoveries, landscape, local handcrafting, tasting fruits and snacks... and impressive monuments about the khmer rouge historiy. It is a respectful, eco-friendly concept. Highly recommended !
nb it is all outdoor, no need to wear masks
Great day out
Very enjoyable cycling at a comfortable pace. Very interesting stops at various points to meet some locals and sample food and drink. Our guide Sahara was excellent.
Learned lots and ate yummy stuff
Our guide Phalla was great and the bikes were good for the terrain. Not a hard bike ride. Great to see all the different food making (banana jerky, rice paper, fish paste, bamboo sticky rice) and lots of nice views.
highly recommended sustainable tour - great social impact
Soksabike is a fantastic organisation. I was lucky to be accompanied by Moni (speaks very good English!) on the "local livelihood tour". It was a great experience ! Great addresses, great stories, and learned many new things about local customs and habits.
When visiting the local "killing fields", I learned a lot of history in addition to our visits in Phnom Penh.
Soksabike works in a very respectful way with local small entrepreneurs, and makes sure that they are properly compensated for their time and hospitality. Highly recommended !
