What To Expect

Peacock Asia Tours
our day starts at 6 am from Siem Reap, where we’ll start our journey to the Preah Vihear Temple.

Our first major stop on our journey towards Preah Vihear is Tamok House. As with any country, there is always a dark history and Ta Mok’s House is part of Cambodia’s. Ta Mok’s house was once owned by former Khmer Rouge Commander Ta Mok, from 1979 until late 1997.

After our brief visit to Tamok house, we’ll continue our journey to the Preah Vihear Temple. Much of the province is extremely remote and strongly forested, providing many natural sights and places to view along the way.

Unfortunately, large logging companies have damaged many parts of the natural landscape by carving huge tracks throughout this pristine tropical forest for hardwoods. It is also one of the least populated provinces in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

On arriving at Preah Vihear Temple, you’ll witness the true beauty and grandeur of its site which almost borders Cambodia and Thailand.

The Preah Vihear temple site is perched on the edge of a giant cliff and with a commanding view over northern Cambodia, Preah Vihear is difficult to visualize as a whole. The experience is truly a memorable one with the series of ascents over the best part of a kilometer, the ornate Gopuras and the wealth of decorative detail truly staggers one’s imagination.
