The temples are better with a tour, and the tour is better with Bun from Journey Cambodia.

The temples are magnificent anyway, but it was a much richer experience thanks to learning about the Hindu and Buddhist artwork, the history of the buildings, and the cultural and historic context of Cambodia. Plus they know the best photo spots, time of day to visit each attraction, and how to avoid crowds.

We had an excellent time on this tour, we were kept very comfortable and felt looked after. As a guide Bun is the consummate professional; courteous, friendly, informative and ready for questions. He provides an endless supply of knowledge, bottled water and hand sanitiser.

Our driver Paul was no less of an expert, he was hyper vigilant and careful during the new year weekend (while the road is lined with people throwing water) and we could see we were in very safe hands.

The crowds are very low post covid, despite the Cambodian new year holiday (April 14-16). The lull in tourism has also meant the macaques aren't being fed and have moved back in to the forest, so we were thankfully not bothered by monkeys.

I can’t say enough amazing things about this tour and our guide Mr. Sam. I’m a very curious tour participant and I ask a lot of questions. Me. Sam was all game. There wasn’t a single answer he didn’t have to any of the questions myself or my friend asked. He went into great detail about the Khmer Rouge regime when I asked about it even though it had nothing to do with the trip we were on. Back to that though; Angkor Wat is one of the main reasons I wanted to come to SE Asia. I’ve wanted to see this stunning structure for years and was afraid I was hyping it up too much for it to not meet my expectations. I was delightfully proven incorrect. The structures are beautiful, and the history is fascinating, delivered with humour and engagement in a way that I can be forever grateful for. Thank you so much Mr. Sam, you made this experience something that will truly never be forgotten.
Great experience with Rom!

I can’t speak for other tour guides under the Journey Cambodia umbrella, but we booked a private tour with Rom. He was absolutely incredible. Knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and an amazing person. Highlight of my three week trip to SE Asia!
Private Tour with Mr. Sam

The tour started with our guide Sam picking us up in our hotel on time with an extremely charming tuktuk driver. At the hotel Sam explained to us in detail the course of the day. Then it started. We bought the tickets for Angkor Wat together and then drove through the impressive facility.

It was one of the most impressive days of our life, accompanied by an incredibly interesting guide and an always smiling tuktuk driver. Sam answered all questions and told us a lot about the temples but also about the history of the Khmer and their today's life.

The day would not have been half as good without Sam and his driver. Thanks for that.

We can only recommend the funny guide Mr. Sam.

Fantastic guides share more about Siem Reap beyond Angkor temples
Stum10, 11-01-2020
We tried the private 1 day Angkor temple tour and our guide arranged the visits to local village near Angkor War, Bayon, Ta Prohm and Angkor Wat in that sequence. Our guide Dalign or Lign (short form) shared about life growing up in Siem Reap and the history of Cambodia in the past century as well as in ancient times which will help you better understand the current affairs in this fascinating country. Request for tour guide Lign, he is clearly different from other tour guides, very knowledgeable and worldly, reads a lot, very open to sharing, very good English pronounciation, and also very curious to learn about countries outside Cambodia.
