What To Expect

After pick up from your hotel, drive 30 minute to Angkor Archaeological Park and make first stop at Preah Khan Temple. The name literally means sword, the temple is highly atmospheric mixture of tree roots and crumbling stone structures. Construction of this site was commissioned by the great 'temple builder' Jayavaraman VII (in honour of his father). Preah Khan is currently being restored by the World Monument Fund and in places is in remarkably good condition.

Neak Pean

Ta Som
Although it is one of the smaller temple sites in the Angkor Archaeological Park, it is definitely worth a look. As with neighboring sites Preah Khan and Ta Prohm, very little restoration work has been done on Ta Som. These sites remain in a state of semi-ruin with the trees and other native vegetation allowed to grow over and through the walls of the temple. One of the most prominent features of the site is the huge strangler fig tree which has engulfed the eastern gopura or gate. Ta Som also features towers with serene faces on the outer enclosure of this Bayon-style temple. This charming site has many unique photo opportunities you won’t want to miss.

Banteay Samre
Banteay Samre is somewhat "off the beaten track" and mostly overlooked by visitors as it locates away from the more visited Angkor temples. But it temple is definitely worth a stop. In its architecture and style the temple bears a very similar resemblance to both its neighbor, Banteay Srey, and the majestic Angkor Wat itself.
