What To Expect

Angkor Wat
We begin with a pre-dawn departure from your hotel for sunrise outside Angkor Wat Temple. First, join the crowd at the popular sunrise reflection pond. Then we move before the crowd to enter the great temple in darkness from the little-visited eastern side, and creep along hoary cloistered corridors past the longest stretch of bas-relief carvings in the world. Soak up the atmosphere of dawn inside the Angkor Wat Temple and begin exploring the interior of the great temple with guidance from your expert tour guide. You will spend two hours discovering the corridors, central chambers, and upper terraces of this truly great temple.

Angkor Thom South Gate
Before we enter the formerly great city of Angkor Thom, we will stop at South Gate of the great city for a short walk along the causeway flanked by a row of 54 stone figures on each side, gods to the left and demons to the right, and the fortified walled city of Angkor Thom.

Bayon Temple
Bayon is a tower temple located in the center point of the great city of Angkor Thom. Its beautifully crafted central towers, covered in more than 200 enormous faces. Each face is 4 meters high and is facing one of the cardinal directions of the compass. They all have the same serene smile, with eyes closed, representing the all-knowing state of inner peace.

Baphuon Temple
Also, located inside Angkor Thom, Baphuon is a beautiful 11th century “temple-mountain” with steep stairs leading visitors to a terrace which offers one of the best views in the Angkor Archaeological Park.

Terrace of the Elephants
The Terrace of the Elephants is a striking 350-meter-long and 2.5-meter-high ornamental wall which, as the name suggests, is mostly decorated with carved elephants. It serves as a viewing platform, from which King Jayavarman VII looked over his victorious returning army.

Chau Say Tevoda
We travel out of Angkor Thom through the east gate and stop for short visit at Chau Say Tevoda temple. This small, graceful Hindu temple has a central sanctuary, 2 libraries and 4 towers which are at the 4 cardinal points on the compass. To the north is a twin temple of Thommanon, which has a similar design and floor plan to Chau Say Tevoda.

Ta Prohm Temple
On the same small circuit road lead to the jungle-enveloped Ta Prohm, one of the most atmospheric of all temples in Angkor. Once home to 2,740 monks, Ta Prohm today looks much as it did in the early 1850s, when French explorer Henri Mouhot ‘rediscovered’ this crumbling site. After exploring the maze-like interior of Ta Prohm, return to your hotel after a long but fulfilling day, which will leave you with a lifetime of memories of one of the wonders of the world.

Banteay Kdei
Banteay Kdei is peaceful and quiet. Its name means “Citadel of Chambers”, the ruins are a fascinating maze of chambers that are a delight to explore. Also serving as a Buddhist temple, these ruins have been home to an active monastery at multiple time periods since their construction in the 12th century, up until the 1960s.

Srah Srang
Just opposite Beanteay Kdei Temple is a royal pond of Srah Srang. It is a large pond (700 by 300 meters) with elegant landing terrace of superb proportion and scale. A majestic platform (landing stage) with leads to the pond. It is built of laterite with sandstone molding.
